Research Design and Statistical Consulting

The Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan provides statistical consulting services for faculty, staff, and students. I am one of the two departmental statistical consultants, Benjamin (Ben) Blankenship is the other. We provide advice on designing and conducting studies, and analyzing data. In terms of software-specific advice, we primarily support SPSS, R, and R Studio, though we can provide limited advice for other packages as well (e.g. AMOS, M Plus, Matlab).

My stats consulting hours for the Winter 2017 semester are Wednesdays 1:30-3:00pm and Fridays 10:30am-12:30pm in 3234 East Hall.

Diversity & Education Consulting

I have consulted on issues related to my research, particularly issues surrounding diversity, education, and their intersection (i.e. diversity in education). I primarily consult with education and other non-profit organizations, as well as local governments. This has ranged from providing workshops that educate stakeholders about relevant research, to assessing organizational climate and practices to advise stakeholders on strategies the research evidence suggests they could implement to achieve their organizational goals. Some previous topics are listed below:

  • Benefits and Costs of Diversity in Organizations
  • Factors that Influence the Motivation and Success of Racial-Ethnic Minority Students
  • Recruiting and Retaining Women & Minorities in STEM Organizations
